hahnentritt / houndstooth pink

release date: 28/10/2011
limited release in size 6
price: 89 € for a sz 6

didymos released a second houndstooth wrap. it was announced on their facebook page from their shop in ludwigsburg, where this wrap is sold. the colors are dark red and pink, and it is again a 100% cotton wrap. the wrap seems to be similar to their black/white houndstooth wrap, but the pattern in this test weave is even larger than before. i guess this is why it is available in a small batch and in size 6 only.

i still do not give up hope for a really thick black/white wool houndstooth with a smaller pattern, but i’m also very curious about this one.

today the pink houndstooth already arrived at my door. i really had some problems to get some pics, because my daughter immediately claimed the wrap as her wrap and said ‘oh mama, this is the most beautiful wrap i ever had !’ the box says that this is an error weave, but i love it just the way it is.

the wrap is medium thin and already very very soft right out of the box. the pink is the same as can be found in pink polka dots, but it is not as screaming because of the combination with dark red. i cannot tell if the houndstooth pattern is really bigger than on the black/white houndstooth wrap, but now i’m starting to be a houndstooth fan…we’ll see if i can post comparison pics some day.

pinke punkte with wool 46%

release date: 18/10/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 119 € for a sz 6

measurements were taken on a size 6 post wash:

length: 5.05 m

weight: 820 g

width: 0.69 m

-> 162.38 g/m

-> 235.33 g/m2

this wrap is not only pink but PINK. i cannot even think about a similar wrap with such a screaming pink, but the color can also be found in some stripe wraps from didymos. the wrap is after the first wash very soft and fluffed up to due to the wool. it is dense and fluffy, very easy to wrap with…and it puts a smile on my face every time i look at it. these are definitely not typical autumn colors, but just imagine this happy wrap when there is snow (…or mud) everywhere, soon. it does not feel similar to e.g. skanderborg wool fish, but more like the alpaca fishies.

i’m curious to see how they will affect the diamond effect. the pre-order is open until october,, 31st.

labyrinth zimt-lavendel / cinnamon-lavendel

release date: 11/10/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 109 € for a sz 6

what a surprise, this week is not only international babywearing week, but also a lot of new wraps came out (indio monti with wool, two new cotton labyrinth, wave tramonto). on tuesday didymos released two new versions of the labyrinth wraps: cinnamon-lavendel and violet-turquoise.

the first labyrinth version was simply named labyrinth and was chosen from the design contest. the idea was from holly picket from the usa and polarized the wrapping community – maybe mostly because of didys first clown commend (and personally i learned a lot about peoples opinion towards clowns). so this is the new version with labyrinths in different sizes and only two different cotton threads: a nice chocolate brown and purple.

measurements were taken on a size 6 post wash:

length: 4.97 m

weight: 670 g

width: 0.66 m

-> 134.81 g/m

kokaki waldvögel / forest birds

release date: 12/10/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 109 € for a sz 6

today i’d like to talk about my newest addi(c)tion: kokadi waldvögel. kokadi is a relatively new wrap brand from germany. they produce eco-friendly certified baby wraps and carriers with some new and fresh designs.

this design is named “waldvögel”, where “wald” means forest and “vögel” are the birds. so it is not surprising that you’ll find birds from the forest woven on the wrap: owls and birds, net to branches and flowers. the patterns is simple and cartoonish but also very very cute. can you tell which owl is my favorite one ? i just love the little one with a brown and a green eye ♥

the wrap is medium to thin, but has a very dense weave. one side is lime green, whereas the other one is in a nice chocolate brown. on the bottom rail you can also find a brown hem which facitilates to discriminate the bottom from the top rail while wrapping. of course there is also a middle marker added.

kokadi wraps are very easy to wrap with. they are soft from the beginning and also easy to take care for. like other wraps they shrink a bit in the first wash, but this is expected and they run in general very long. so after the first wash you will have at least 4.6 m for a wrap in this size…but it is not unusual that they are 4.8 m or even close to 5 m.

i still wear my daughter (3 years old) in multi layer carries in a kokadi. and as waldvoegel was a very popular design, kokadi decided to add a similar green-brown owl wrap into their standard collection which will be available from october 2012.
