indio petrol hemp 40%

release date: 02/27/2012
limited release in size 2, 4, 5, 6, 7
price: € 126 for a sz 6

this is indio petrol with 40% hemp v2. the first release with a whiter hemp was released in russia only. but there was also a huuuuge demand and so many people kept begging for more petrol hemp that didy released another batch with a more creamy hemp. this wrap arrived today and it is so my color. normally i always wash wraps before i use them, but i couldn’t wait to give it a first try.

measurements were taken on a sz 6 m post-wash:

length: 5 m

width: 68 cm

weight: 750 g

-> 150 g/m

-> 220.59 g/m2

but i will wait with the review when it is washed, dryed and ironed and used some more with my toddler. let me just say: today i’m in fluff heaven ❤

together with the other colored hemp indios: erba, grass, petrol and anthrazit.

lavanda, 25% hemp, 25% linen

price: 109 € for a sz 6

measurements werer taken on a sz 6 post-wash:

length: 4.99 m

weight: 780 g

width: 0.68 m

-> 156.31  g/m

-> 229.87 g/m2

after cashmere silk ellipsen this new indio is the second tri-fiber wrap from didymos. it was gone in a flash and only available through didymos and a handful of selected distributors. on the first look it is difficult to see the indio pattern. the warp is violet cotton, whereas the weft are alternating threads of white hemp and dark blue linen.

due to the changing color in the weft the indio diamonds now doesn’t look like diamonds, but are more onion shaped. it gives the wrap some kind of oriental touch, which is really very very nice.

wrapping wise this is a medium wrap with a tendency to be thicker, but i think this is more of the feeling at the beginning. it is very dense and rough. but already much softer after the  first wash and will get even better when it is broken in. i can easily wear my toddler for longer periods. this wrap hat go give or bounce and stays put. i don’t need to re-adjust it after some time wearing it, so please didymos, we need some more colourways (without any purple…).

comparison with fish latimeria and pfau violett linen 50%:

indio erba 50% hanf/hemp

the wrap is now washed once and ironed a few times, and of course you can still feel the difference between this new wrap and my already broken in grass and anthrazit hemp indios. if i compare them to each other you won’t see much of a difference:

grass hemp:

lenth: 4,98 m

weight: 740 g

width: 0.68 m

-> 148,59 g/m

-> 218.51 g/m2

anthrazit hemp:

length: 5.05 m

weight: 750 g

width: 0.68 m

-> 148.51 g/m

-> 218.4 g/m2

erba hemp:

length: 5.12 m

weight: 770 g

width: 67 cm

-> 150.39 g/m

-> 224.46 g/m2
all wraps are a sz 6 and measurements were taken post-wash and i don’t think that you can really distinguish the 6 g/m2 difference. imo those hemp wraps are just so so sooo wonderful, supportive, dense but yet moldable and great for toddlers as well as for newborns. there is nothing new that i can add to the comparison wrapping wise – if you love anthrazit or grass, you will also love erba. the color is the same as in nino auguri gemelli oder jim salvia, but it looks different due to the weaving pattern and/or the combination with white hemp threads. the hemp threads are as usual a bit ‘wild’ and more comparable with linen, but this is a wrap which will break in quick and easy. i’m sure you’ll enjoy it, too.

on the picture below you see indio grass hemp, indio erba hemp, jim salvia linen, nino auguri gemelli ramie/silk

indio anthrazit with 50% hemp

limited release in size  5, 6, 7

didymos listened to their customers and saw that indio grass was sold out in a flash. and indio anthrazit did the same. after half an hour these wraps were already gone from their page. didymos already said that this is a very limited release and that there will be no new batch coming…let’s see if they are right.

measurements on a sz 6:

length: 5.05 m

weight: 750 g

width: 68 cm

->148.51 g/m

-> 218,4 g/m2

this indio is softening up really quick. it is supportive, moldable and easy to wrap with. we love it with our toddler, because stains from ice cream, strawberries,…are not that visible when we’re out and about. additionally, it is a really classy wrap which you can wear with jeans as well as on a wedding. and this is one of these wraps which are great for a newborn (so soft !) but still rock with a heavy toddler.

indio gras with 50% hemp

release date: 03/30/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7
price: 99 € for a sz 6

all i can say right now is that there are some interesting new things going on with didymos. it was said that it’ll take 3-4 days for delivery and right now some people are suprised that they received an email that they’ll have to pay in advance  even it they have chosen to pay after receiving the wrap.

but some people already got the first coloured hemp and it is beautiful from the pics i have seen. can’t wait to receive my wrap.

and here it is:

prewash it feels quiet a bit crunchy, but i’m sure this is due to the starch didymos is using on the wraps to facilitate the weaving. the colour is hard to describe and i sometimes think of the caribbean sea and sometimes of our toothpaste. i’m not sure if a lot of people can rock this colour and i’m not sure if i’m one of the few that do. but as this is the first 50% hemp wrap and the first coloured hemp wrap ever i will give it a fair chance (and there is always the possibility to dye…).

measurements are postwash on a sz 6:

length: 4,98 m

weight: 740 g

width: 68 cm

-> 148,59 g/m

-> 218,51 g/m2

postwash the wrap is already softer and really moldable. my lo (2 years, nearly 14 kg) feels very comfortable on my back in a double hammock. there is no sagging and i’m sure that the wrap well be much more softer when it is starting to break in.there is a lot of shimmer in this wrap and when the sunlight is playing on it. by the way: i realized that this 50% hemp wrap has also quite a few nubs and slubs just like a linen wrap has. i didn’t recognize them on the 40% hemp indio, but maybe they are harder to see if the wrap is not two coloured.

i really hope there will be more 50% hemp wraps coming. i just love that didymos became so experimental lately with different colours and blends.

note: the tag says 40% hemp, 60% cotton, but the content is 50%/50%
