5o% blue cotton, 50% turquoise linen

DSC_1065

finally didymos released the first blue pfau. and this wrap is beyond gorgeous. it is with 50% linen and the first anniversary pfau pattern with a linen content. the colors of the wrap are really hard to capture and the pics don’t do the wrap justice.

i was staring the whole day at the wrap and the blue has some kind of purple undertone. the linen is a turquoise which shimmers like crazy. depending on the light the wrap sometimes seems to be blue-turquoise, sometimes purple-teal. i used it in a quick double hammock today with my daughter and it was very easy to wrap with but still supportive. it is nothing like the old pfau linen wraps, but more like the black hemp pfau which was released last year. can’t wait to geek some more on this wrap, but i’m so happy i did go for it.

audrey with 50% wool

release date: 10/11/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 129 € for a sz 6

audrey was released after an annoucment on facebook thursday afternoon. audrey is the third houndstooth wrap, but this time with 50% wool, and it is also the first wrap with 50% wool in it. the cotton fiber is purple and the wool fiber olive green.

measurements on a sz 6 post-wash are:
length: 4.92 m
width: 0.67  m
weight: 870 g
-> 176.83 g/m
-> 263.92 g/m2

audrey is weighing more than other wool wraps due to the higher wool content. at the moment (= pre-wash) is seems to be comparable with thin skanderborg fishies, but the feel is totally different. it is on the thicker side, but not a very thick wrap.

compared with the other two houndstooth wrap the pattern on audrey is significant smaller. audrey hast the pattern 17 x in width, black/antrazit 12 x and pink houndstooth only 9 x:

have i already said that audrey has a great shimmer ? on this pic yo can clearly see it shimmering:

pesci nebbia, 40% linen

release date: 08/17/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7
price:  149 € for a sz 6

the pesci nebbia are some extraordinary fishies. the wrap was first presented on august, 7th on the german innatex fair near wiesbaden. so people were already waiting for the wrap as some vendors have given the information out.

pesci nebbia is the first wrap from didymos with plant-dyed linen. the yellow linen content is 40% and giving a nice contrast to the black cotton. the linen was dyed with a plant named reseda lutea, which can be commonly found in europe at warm and dry areas. if the wrap is washed with 40 or max. 50 degree celsius the color will stay the same and does not fade, so be careful and don’t wash your wrap with higher temperatures.

as plant dyeing is an extensive and expensive process the wrap is pricier than other linen wraps. it is mentioned that this is the first, but not the last plant-dyed wrap, so i’m looking forward to what didy is coming up with next.

note: the wrap is smelling really funny right out of the box, but the smell will fade after the first (or some ?) wash/es.

measurements were taken post-wash on a sz 6:

length: 4.89 m

weight: 680 g

width: 0.69 m

-> 136.55 g/m

-> 197.9 g/m2

caribe fishies transformation

as i already have and love the caribe fische 50% linen wrap (and karmin as well…ooops) but also wanted to have a more toned down version i had some fun with the dye yesterday. now i am completely happy to have those beautiful and supportive blue-grey linen fishies and i think that they fit perfectly in my stash 🙂

the wrap is now washed once and ironed a few times, and of course you can still feel the difference between this new wrap and my already broken in grass and anthrazit hemp indios. if i compare them to each other you won’t see much of a difference:

grass hemp:

lenth: 4,98 m

weight: 740 g

width: 0.68 m

-> 148,59 g/m

-> 218.51 g/m2

anthrazit hemp:

length: 5.05 m

weight: 750 g

width: 0.68 m

-> 148.51 g/m

-> 218.4 g/m2

erba hemp:

length: 5.12 m

weight: 770 g

width: 67 cm

-> 150.39 g/m

-> 224.46 g/m2
all wraps are a sz 6 and measurements were taken post-wash and i don’t think that you can really distinguish the 6 g/m2 difference. imo those hemp wraps are just so so sooo wonderful, supportive, dense but yet moldable and great for toddlers as well as for newborns. there is nothing new that i can add to the comparison wrapping wise – if you love anthrazit or grass, you will also love erba. the color is the same as in nino auguri gemelli oder jim salvia, but it looks different due to the weaving pattern and/or the combination with white hemp threads. the hemp threads are as usual a bit ‘wild’ and more comparable with linen, but this is a wrap which will break in quick and easy. i’m sure you’ll enjoy it, too.

on the picture below you see indio grass hemp, indio erba hemp, jim salvia linen, nino auguri gemelli ramie/silk
