measurements were taken on a 5.2 m wrap post-wash:

ellipsen braun-natur, colour grown ellipsen

release date: 09/02/2010
limited release in size 2, 4, 5, 6, 7
price:  89 € for a sz 6

measurements were taken on a size 7:

length: 5.46 m

weight: 760 g

-> 139.19 g/m

these ellipsen are everything i already have said for ellipsen braun-natur. the ellipsen feel thinner than the waves due to their different weave. ellipsen are more flat and dense whereas the waves feel floofier. the main difference is that the ellipsen have a dark and a light cotton side. the dark side is the natural grown cotton and this one is getting amazingly soft after the first wash. didymos also recommended this wraps for parents and/or babies with sensitive skin because this wrap it so soft that i doesn’t irritates the skin.

wellen braun-natur, colour grown waves

release date: 05/07/2009
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price:  89 € for a sz 6

well, i think that i will leave some other threads still unfilled, because i need to rave about two of my favorite wraps ever. i will start with wellen braun-natur, a cotton wrap with pure organic cotton in two different colours.

measurements on a size 6:

length: 4.94 m

weight: 670 g

-> 135.63 g/m

this wrap is one of the most amazing wraps ever. seriously, it is softer than anything else and therefor  the most perfect wrap to snuggle a tiny newborn in it. there is so much cush and the wrap is so floofy, but still so comfortable on my shoulders with my big toddler. this is just the wrap i choose when my kids are teething, ill, or need some extra soft snuggles.

this wrap is just classy and goes with everything. it also needs no breaking in and you have a supersoft wrap right after the first wash.

the interesting thing about this natural grown cotton is that the darker cotton is not so dark when the wrap is new. just after the first (hot) wash it gets its real colour and is much darker than before.

and another great point: natty brown waves are easy to find and they are still sold below retail from their first owners.

you’d think that i’m done raving ? just have a look at ellipsen braun-natur.

release date: 04/29/2011
limited release in size 2, 5, 6, 7, doll wrap
price:  99 € for a sz 6

after more than two months after the design competition didymos released the first winner wrap. the design is from michaela chwolka and gingko is a fresh green cotton wrap with three different colours. the threads (gold and turquoise) have been used in ellipsen gold-türkis recently, and they are combined with a typical didymos green.

size 6 geekery:

length: 4,9 m

weight: 680 g

-> 138,78 g/m

gingko is a medium thick (or thin) wrap. the green is a really fresh colour and if the one side is too bright for you, just use the other one. the pattern is just beautiful. on both sides are gingko branches and they are loosing the leaves which can be found over the rst of the wrap. the main colour is the didymos green (from iris, simon, eibe…) and the leaves are gold-turquoise.

i really love the colour and the pattern and i love that didymos did the competition to find some new patterns. i think at least this one is really a great success. it could have been a tad thicker (or with linen) for me, but we can still wrap in multi-way carries quite comfortable.

nautilus acqua

release date: 04/14/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7, doll wrap
price: 99 € for a sz 6

hey, didymos really has done some great fishing today and released a second wrap. this time a 100% cotton wrap with the nautilus pattern in blue/green…and i’m already in love. it reminds me alot of indio april, a beautiful release from 2010. this wrap wowed me so much that i cannot stop looking at the swatch. we have to wait until the 21 th again and i.simply.cannot.wait.

today the nautili arrive and i really had to laugh out loud when i compared the weight of the nautili box and the pesce pazzi box.

post-wash measurements on a sz 6:

length: 4.93  m

weight: 610 g

->123.73  g/m

pre-wash the nautili are already a very soft and thin wrap. i think they feel almost the same as other nautili like nautilus perlmutt. i expect them to be very moldable and soft when they are washed and dried. they have a beautiful greenish shimmer and they seem to be a perfect summer wrap for the beach.

i will post some nice comparison pictures later. the petrol threads are identical to threads in fische petrol/honig (with wool) or goldfische (with linen). the green can be found in geckos antigua, too.

pesci pazzi

release date: 04/14/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7, doll wrap
price: 99 € for a sz 6

wow, these colours are really crazy – pesci pazzi, the crazy fish will be available from didymos from 04/21/2011. they are a 100% cotton wrap (it is said medium thickness) in purple and fuchsia….purple ? i might remember something didy recently said…i guess this is a bright and stunning wrap for summer. it totally reminds me of a 2009 release: indio scilla.

the pink side that you can see on the swatch is the “wrong” side of the wrap. the other side is purple (like elburg, latimeria,…) with pink fish.

post-wash measurements on a sz 6:

length:  4.88 m

weight: 910 g

->  186.48 g/m

after a lot of chatter about the swatch didymos posted (and changed) the crazy fish are finally here. i was really curious and was first of all rewarded with a thick wrap (yes ! i love thick wraps !). it reminds me a lot of latimeria fish and i also don’t think that the first swatch was way off. this is a purple wrap with pink fish – and the other side is a pink wrap with purple fish. i guess it was disturbing that didymos showed the ‘wrong’ side with their first swatch, and as a lot of people only wrap the ‘right’ side they felt disappointed. well…i do not get all this ‘wrong side, right side’ stuff, i wrap with the side that suits me.

i think everyone recognized the purple didymos used. the pink threads have been used recently in indio burgund, too.

fische malawi

release date: 11/22/2010
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7, doll wrap
price: 99 € for a sz 6

geeky infos on a size 6:

weight: 640 g

malawi fish have been first spotted on the german fair “Babywelt” as doll wraps and came into the shop one day later. they has been a lot of love between the green skanderborg fish and violet elburg fish in the didymos aquarium and these fishies are their offspring.

malawi fish is a medium thick wrap which is getting soft quite quick and does not need a lot of breaking in. the colours are…special. there are quite some funny names for them in the babywearing community and not everyone loves the colour combination. but the colours do really shine (do they glow in the dark ?), and it is such a beautiful wrap. it has a stunning shimmer and the fish are not as prominent as on other fish wraps. this could either be an advantage or a disadvantage, it is just a different point of view.

i really like this wrap. it molds easily in a double hammock with my 2 yr old toddler, but i would not wear it in single layer carries anymore. but with a younger child this is definitely a wrap that i would recommend for a kangoroo or a ruck, too.

indio burgund

release date: 12/30/2011
limited release in size 2, 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 89 € for a sz 6

postwash infos on a beautiful sz 6

length: 4,89 m

width: 60,5 cm

weigh: 580 g

-> 118,61 g/m

didymos finished this year with releasing an awesome indio. indio burgund is a thin wrap with burgung and pink cotton threads. the wrap really shines and is so so beautiful. in 2009 was a similar release called indio hibiscus with pink and red threads. once i owned this wrap, too, and i loved the colour but found it diggy on my shoulders and too thin for my one year old toddler.

with indio burgund something is different, but i cannot name it. it is a thin wrap, definitely not thicker than indio hibiscus, but it wraps so wonderful and totally different. whereas i remember hibiscus to be thin and not squishy, indio burgund has some marshmallowey softness (not as much as the queen of marshmallowey softness – wellen braun natur, CGW – but still).

it was also interesting to see that the prices on the wrap market went down a bit for indio hibiscus and there were and are still some indio hibiscus wraps for sale again. this is how the wrap market works – you never know what didymos is releasing next and what your wraps are worth on the market. so be careful with any speculations…and this release only had a mild effect. imagine a re-release of a limited edition…everything is possible with didymos and this is also why i love them so much (no, i’m not working for them).

geckos negev

release date: 12/22/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 99 € for a sz 6

geeky infos on a size 6 postwash:

length: 5,04 m

width: 65,5 cm

weigh: 700 g

-> 138,89 g/m

after quite some time the geckos are back. didymos released this beautifuk wrap right before christmas and it really did a great job under the tree. geckos negev are a tri-coloured cotton wrap with threads in red, green and yellow. the right side is red with geckos in different sizes, patterns and colour combinations. due to the yellow and green threads the red colour is not a fire engine red that jumps straight into your eyes.

the wrap is with 138,89 g/m a medium thick wrap. it is already soft after the first wash and you can easily wrap your loved one. it molds perfectly in a double hammock and is quite comfortable in single layer carries with a toddler, too. i would absolutely love to wrap a newborn or baby in it in every season (but we are done and i have to wrap those sweet little squishys from friends, family and from wrapping consultations).

ellipsen printemps

release date: 2/1/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7
price: 95 € for a sz 6

infos on a sz 6 postwash

weigh: 640 g

length: 4,86 m

-> 130.01 g/m

so – i think we are waiting for spring to come and this wonderful wrap reminds me a lot of easter…easter eggs, bunnies, little yellow chicken. the wrap shines and makes me happy every time i look at it.

the threads are ecru and yellow, whereas the yellow is a bit on the orange side. it is a thin wrap with a beautiful shimmer on it. after the first wash it is already so soft and doesn’t need a lot of breaking in. i used it today in a dh with my 2 year old toddler and it felt quite comfy for the short time we used it. i mean – i’m a thick(er) wrap lover and normally don’t get a real comfortable wrap job with thinner wraps. it is just my personal preference and has nothing to do with the wraps.

this wrap is very easy to wrap with and wrapping wise a real pleasure compared with the not yet completely broken in 50% linen wraps i have here sitting on my shelf. i really like the colour, it shines so beautiful and i would be head over heels if i had a new squishy to wrap. but all i have is a toddler – so i would not choose this wrap for a long hike, but i’m looking forwand to bring some spring colours for shorter times into town with ellipsen printemps.
