indio eisblau / iceblue with 15% wool and 15% silk

release date: 16/11/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 115 € for a sz 6

this year didymos is really experimenting with different fibers and fiber combinations. today indio eisblau with 70% ice blue cotton / 15% silk / 15% wool was released. it seems to be on the thin side, but i guess it will be wonderful – at least for smaller babies, but who knows, maybe it is surprisingly comfortable for older kids, too.

measurements on a sz 6 post-wash are:
length: 4.91 m
width: 0.61  m
weight: 540 g
-> 109.98 g/m
-> 180.29 g/m2

after the first wash the wrap is even softer than right out of the box. when it is wet you will notice the typical silk smell (some are loving the smell, some don’t), but when it is dry is is just pure fluffy heaven. even when you wash it by hand in the tub it will lose some of its width, but it has more stretch than tussah silk fish or nino tussah, so i don’t think that it will be a problem. i just wrapped my nearly three year old daughter in it and it was crazy comfortable. i will give it another longer try for one of her naps in the following days.

surprisingly it seems to be post-wash due to its shrinkage in width even more dense than indio zyklame alpaca (164.47 g/m2 compared to 180.29 g/m2). this was one thing that i wasn’t expecting – but i’m quite happy about it. on the pic above ^ you can see how it fluffed up after the wash in comparison to indio zyklame alpaca.

pfau rosé 30% silk

release date: 08/31/2011
limited release in size 4, 5, 6, 7
price: 179 € for a sz 6

holy cow…this time didymos released the first silk pfau in a beautiful pink. the pink is the same pink that have already been used in other silk wraps like indio rosé and hibiscus. the price is not really cheap, but the pfau wraps have always been a bit more expensive than other wraps.

first impression when i opened the box: wooooaaaah. this is a really stunning and beautiful wrap. of course you have to like pink, but it also has this wonderful silky shimmer on it. it is a very delicate and thin wrap and you need to give it a first wash before you use it (because the fibers are getting more dense)…but it is really an extraordinary piece of cloth.

measurements were taken on a sz 6 post wash:

length: 4.99 m

weight: 550 g

width: 0.62 m

-> 110.22 g/m

-> 177.77 g/m2

after the first wash the wrap became a bit more dense, but of course it is still a very thin and light wrap. but amazingly i find it very comfortable with my 2.5 yr old toddler. she loves pink, she adores the birds, so this is a wrap that is getting frequent use during nap time for more than 1 hour.

of course i would advise to wrap carefully with thinner wraps, this kind of weave and with heavier children. in my experience you are really getting an amazing comfort when you wrap tight and careful – and yes, i make a difference if i grab into a thick linen pfau strang or a delicate and thin silk wrap. but on the other side i use this wrap everywhere: on the playground, in the woods,…

ok, back to the topic. i don’t think that you have to worry about this wrap. yes, it is freaking expensive and surely more sensitive than a standard stripe cotton wrap. but wrapping wise it is still great for bigger kids….and i just can imagine how awesome it is with younger babies or even newborns. i wouldn’t have expect this wrap to be so comfy, but i’m glad that i still like it.

and did i already mention how supersoft it is ? and how perfect this wrap will look on special festivities like baptism, wedding, parties, christmas,…?

indio schiefer/slate with 30% silk

release date: 06/06/2011
limited release in size 5, 6, 7 (from didymos)
price:  145 € for a sz 6

this new silk indio has 30% silk and 70% cotton and is a very limited release. it was presented together with waves leander on the “tragetage” in dresden and was available on monday, 6th. it took only 10 minutes and it was sold out, too, and i really hope that it will be a silk indio which is comfortable for my shoulders and my toddler.

measurements on a sz 6:

length: 5.03 m

weight: 530 g

-> 105.37 g/m

here you can see indio schiefer with silk under its hemp twin (indio anthrazit hemp). schiefer is much more shimmery due to the silk threads and seems to be more grey-dark grey whereas the hemp indio is clearly white-dark grey.
